After the surrender of Nashville during the Civil War in 1862, Union troops commissioned the construction of Fort Negley. Preservationists have worked tirelessly for decades to preserve this historic site.
The MHC received a historic preservation grant for a Historic Structures Report for Fort Negley. The report included some limited archaeology and structural analysis of the Fort’s stone walls, providing a plan for stabilization and repair of the Fort with its associated costs.
